Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 Max LED Fog Pod Lights. Now, these three-inch LED fog pod lights are gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. This is gonna be a great option to consider as you're upgrading the fog lights on your vehicle. As you can see, I have this light connected to my power source already. What you're seeing here is one of my favorite features of these lights.

It's the amber backlight. That back light's gonna be great for a stylish touch or for more visibility when you're not using the main beam. So I'm gonna turn my studio lights off here real quick just so you can see what this looks like in low light or dark conditions. And I'm gonna zoom out just so you can see what that looks like from a distance. And then let me go ahead and activate the main fog beam, and you can see the considerable difference there with the the brightness and even the color.

So that's our amber backlight. And then that's gonna be our fog beam. And let me see if I can bring this to the wall behind me just so you can see that pattern. So that fog pattern beam is gonna give you high-intensity light in an extremely wide field of view. And this light has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin cool white.

So that cool white color will match most factory lights. It's a nice crisp color. So I'm gonna bring this back around here. This has a raw lumen rating of 7,920 lumens. The measured lumen rating is 3,500 lumens.

And let me go ahead and turn that off and turn my studio lights back on. And then I just wanna give you one more demonstration of that beam with my studio lights on. So again, you can see just how bright that is. Now, let's go ahead and take another closeup view of it. The peak beam intensity is 18,000 candela. Now, you may not know what a candela rating is. The candela rating actually measures the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. The power draw on that main beam is three amps, and on that backlight at 0.03 amps. Now, these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. That TIR stands for total internal reflection. Unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't great at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light where you want it. It focuses all of that light forward very efficiently. And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly onto this lens surface. That's going to prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some efficiency of that light up to 10%. You can lose just from that light shining through that lens. So by making a part of this lens, you're gonna actually pick up some efficiency. Now, this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector that you see here. This is a pigtail, goes with this light, and you can see I'm using the other pigtail with this light that I have connected to power. So it has that industry standard Deutsch connector. That's just gonna plug right in there and click into place. And this also has a breather patch here on the back of the light, and that's gonna prevent any moisture buildup. The heat sinks that you see here are gonna do a great job of dissipating that heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. And these lights have been powder coated with a really nice finish. And these are constructed of durable aluminum. So these are gonna hold up really well to the elements outside. This light's also been built with high-intensity LED chips. So the heavy-duty construction is going to do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting tidbit, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. So some overall dimensions. Looking at the width from end to end, we're sitting right at about 3 1/4 inches. The same for the height, again, from end to end, 3 1/4 inches. And then looking at the depth from the front of our light all the way to the end of our heat sinks there, we're sitting about 2 3/8 inches deep. Now these lights do draw high current and they do require adequately-sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you do wanna use wire that's sized at 16 gauge or larger. Now, we do also offer these pair of lights with brackets and you can also just buy one light by itself or one light with a bracket.
